Keep Your Resolution

How to stick to your New Years Fitness Resolution.

Set realistic workout goals. Be honest with yourself. If you say you are going to work out every day of the month for two hours, chances are you are setting yourself up for failure. Make realistic goals and hold yourself accountable.

Write down your workouts on a calendar. By slowly filling up a calendar with your past workouts, it helps to visually build consistency and momentum. Refer to the calendar on days where you are having a hard time getting motivated to head to the gym.

Focus on behavioral changes. Commit to getting up early at least once a week to get to the gym. Make it a set day and expect to make it part of your weekly workout routine. Maybe you come up with a plan to not eat any fast food for a month. You will find strength from your ability to change.

Surround yourself with friends and peers who are committed to working out as well. Talk with your friends often. Possibly pledge with a couple friends how many times a week you are all going to work out and hold everyone accountable.

Make a weekly plan of your meals. On Saturday, think through and write down healthy meals for the following week. You are what you eat and remember sugar is not your friend. Eating healthy with a little planning ahead and working out in the gym are a great combination.
